Spatializer Introduces Spatializer Natural Headphone(TM) For Virtual Surround Sound and Stereo Applications
New Headphone Algorithms Provide an Outstanding Audio Experience Using Reasonable Processing Resources at a Reasonable Cost
Spatializer Natural Headphone to be Demonstrated for Portable and Home Entertainment Applications at CeBIT
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Spatializer Audio Laboratories Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SPAZ - news), developer and marketer of the ``de facto'' standard for virtual surround sound, announced today the release of the Spatializer Natural Headphone(TM), which provides outstanding virtual surround sound effects for headphones while using reasonable processing resources and at a reasonable cost.

Spatializer Natural Headphone is the ideal solution for all headphone applications. The 5.1 channel surround sound down-mixing algorithm provides natural quality sound effects over headphones. A well-defined center image allows for crystal clear presentation of dialogue, while the other surround channels immerse the listener in a three dimensional audio experience. The algorithm is also available as a 2-channel solution for enhanced stereo listening. A key attribute of Spatializer Natural Headphone is its extremely low overhead requirement for MIPS and memory. Extensive modeling of both Head Related Transfer Functions (HRTF) and room reverberation provide a low cost solution that is both effective and innovative.

One innovative feature is Spatializer Virtual LFE(TM) (Low Frequency Effects), which creates the impression of subwoofer frequencies that are usually lower than the minimum frequency response capability of most headphones. The result is a more dramatic listening experience, with greater impact, particularly through inexpensive or low quality headphones. User adjustable reverberation also allows for customizable headphone effects. Different listeners often require different levels and types of reverberation to achieve a natural sounding presentation. By making this user definable, listeners can set a custom tailored effect according to their listening tastes.

Spatializer Natural Headphone is now available for porting to all leading digital signal processors. The product may be licensed individually or as part of Spatializer Digital OntheGoFX.

``Our engineers have created Spatializer Natural Headphone to provide a very pleasing and realistic virtual surround sound experience through headphones while using a minimum amount of MIPS and memory,'' says Randy Roscoe, VP of sales and marketing. ``There has been great interest lately in virtual surround sound solutions for headphones. Our customers have been asking for a low overhead solution that only requires a single low-cost processor at a reasonable cost. We think Spatializer Natural Headphone resoundingly delivers what our customers are looking for.''

Spatializer's Chairman and CEO Henry R. Mandell chose the international CeBIT information communication, telecommunications and office automation show to launch what the company plans to be a stream of new OEM and consumer oriented products. ``Portable and personal audio devices are leading the digital audio revolution and the headphone is the means of delivering the astonishing digital audio experience,'' Mandell asserts. ``It's really amazing to us that the actual audio experience delivered through low-cost, or ''frequency response challenged`` headphones, often fall short of the potential audio experience that can be delivered by the power of the DSP. Hence, we developed Spatializer Natural Headphone to significantly improve this experience while mastering the constraints of battery usage, MIPS and cost. We are confident that our potential licensees will find this to be the right product at the right time, in an attractive package.''

In 15 years, CeBIT has developed from being part of the Hanover Fair into the world's leading showplace for information technology, telecommunications and office automation. Mandell says that his company welcomes the opportunity to demonstrate its digital enhancement software products to television, DVD player, mp3 player, set-top box, smartphone, PDA, PC and Internet appliance OEMs, as well as to the more than 700,000 international attendees. The company will be exhibiting in Hall 6, Booth 16, Stand FO6.
