QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies Announces 3G Multimode Solutions for
Highly Integrated Global Roaming Handsets

MSM6500 and MSM6600 Single-Chip Devices Support Third-Generation and Second-Generation
Air Interfaces, Including IS-95, cdma2000 1x/1xEV, WCDMA and GSM/GPRS

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 2001-- QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq:QCOM - news), pioneer and world leader of Code Division
Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced the MSM6500(TM) and MSM6600(TM) Mobile Station Modem (MSM(TM)) integrated
circuit and system software solutions to support third-generation (3G) wireless technology. The MSM6500 solution supports cdma2000 1x, cdma2000 1x Evolution
(1xEV) for high-speed data, supporting data rates of up to 2.4 Megabits per second (Mbps), and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and General
Packet Radio Services (GPRS); the MSM6600 solution supports cdma2000 1x, Wideband CDMA (WCDMA) and GSM/GPRS, enabling true second-generation
(2G) and 3G global roaming.

``The MSM6500 and MSM6600 solutions will allow handset manufacturers and carriers to customize their products to meet specific 3G customer requirements in
all networks around the world,'' said Don Schrock, president of QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies. ``Our unique radioOne architecture and rich Wireless
Internet Launchpad feature set, combined with the depth of our CDMA expertise, enables us to provide the most highly integrated and complete wireless integrated
circuit solutions available in the market today. With our MSM6xxx family of integrated circuits, we are extending our integrated, global roaming-capable solutions to
all major wireless standards.''

Like all members of the MSM6xxx family of integrated circuits, these devices feature the QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies (QCT) radioOne(TM) direct
RF-to-baseband conversion technology, which eliminates the need for large IF Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) filters and additional IF circuitry. Eliminating these
parts significantly reduces handset bill of materials (BOM), resulting in cost-effective multiband and multimode handsets that can be produced in smaller form factors.

The MSM6500 and MSM6600 integrated circuits and system software interface with the QCT Mobile Station Processor (MSP(TM)) family of application
processors for fast development of tightly integrated smart phone, automotive and other Internet appliances, providing support for a variety of applications, including
streaming video using PacketVideo's PVPlayer(TM) MPEG-4 streaming media decoder.

The MSM6500 and MSM6600 solutions support QCT's Wireless Internet Launchpad(TM) suite of advanced multimedia, connectivity, position location, user
interface and removable storage functionality, including:

gpsOne(TM) Global Positioning System (GPS) capabilities, featuring SnapTrack(TM) technology for industry-leading position location accuracy and
performance
Bluetooth(TM) connectivity capabilities
Qtunes(TM) Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG-1) Layer-3 (MP3) player software
Compact Media Extension (CMX(TM)) Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI)-based multimedia software
Support for the Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless(TM) (BREW(TM)) applications platform

QCT's GSM/GPRS solutions support Phase 2+ of GSM and GPRS class 12 data services; WCDMA solutions meets the Frequency Division Duplex (FDD)
Release 99 mode, providing data rates of up to 384 kilobits per second (kbps); the MSM6500 and MSM6600 devices support cdma2000 1x, and provide data
speeds of up to 307 kbps; the 1xEV solution supports data rates of up to 2.4 Mbps in the standard bandwidth 1.25 Megahertz (MHz) channel; 1x provides up to
twice the voice capacity and an up to 50 percent increase in standby time over 2G.

Sampling of the MSM6500 and MSM6600 solutions is expected in the first half of 2003.
