JUST BECAUSE

Often I hold her
Close in my thoughts
Pondering the day's
Whys and why nots

Sometimes I see her
As a garden in bloom
Dazzling with color
And sweet with perfume

I dare not pick her
But let time take care
Lest she wither and die
And cease to be there

Then there are times
She is quite out of reach
Somewhere, some place
I cannot see

I long to tell her
Though silence prevails
How lovely her person
Each day she is near

So let her not wonder
When I chance to touch
But very simply know . . .
It is just because.
