Allan,

Thanks for bringing that post to my attention.
I learned a lot from it.
I'll have to keep her bookmarked.

I continue to tell myself the same thing as you mentioned.
There are still a large number of people like myself who have not been frightened out of this market.
If that is the case then a bottom is still not set.

The problem I am having is figuring out if I Will or Will Not become afraid of the market.
I have lost a lot this year but not so much that I am in financial ruins.
I never had much to begin with, so my losses have been chalked up as tuition in the school of hard knocks.
I'm young and have time to learn.
Certainly I'm annoyed at myself for giving up such a large percentage of my capital.
But I must say that the market still intrigues me and challenges me like nothing else.
I'm constantly learning.
At times I get disgusted and turned off, but then I bounce back and I'm eager to learn again.

It's difficult to gage if I feel the same way as many of the folks on these message boards.
I assume many of us will have to be scared enough to say that they quit before a bottom is reached.
Perhaps only a long drawn out period of a directionless market would be able to do frustrate me enough to stay out and give up watching it.
Is that what it is going to take?
Perhaps yes.

Will it be necessary for these message boards to become ghost towns before we see another bull run?

Many people are now shorting this market.
Perhaps a strong recovery rally will be enough to sap them of the rest of their money.
Then another fall. Up. Down. Up. Down. Completely at random cycles.

But then I continue to wonder how many other Average Joes (people like myself) have already admitted defeat.
How do you determine at what point you graduated from Average Joe to the next level?
I guess I'll have to keep waiting for that next Bull market to emerge before I'll know.
In the mean time I guess I better work on evenly distributing my portfolio to different sectors and markets and accept the fact that getting wealthy does not come quickly in this game. Then continue to learn to trade with a much smaller portion...

<Little light bulb goes on above Clappy's head>
Perhaps this is what I have to see Average Joe Talking about more often instead of wishful thinking and links to outlandish Nasdaq predictions before a bottom is set...

Don't mind me... Just thinking outloud...

Thanks again for pointing me to that link and for sharing your thoughts around the various threads.
I learn a lot from people like yourself.
