>> Nokia Brings Fresh Style to CDMA Market With New Nokia 3200 Series Phones

Nokia Press Release
CTIA Las Vegas
March 20, 2001

Each with a unique new design and an advanced feature set, the new Nokia model 3285 tri-mode CDMA phone (800/1900 MHz/AMPS) and Nokia model 3280 dual-mode CDMA phone (800 MHz/AMPS) deliver Nokia style and technology to CDMA customers in the Americas.

Designed for the socially active and style-conscious, the Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phones feature optional Xpress-on translucent covers in six fashionable new colors, as well as two-way mobile messaging and an integrated wireless Internet minibrowser for on-the-go access to the information ranging from stock quotes and flight times to concert locales and movie times.

Reflecting the latest fashion trends in color, six optional translucent Xpress-on color covers will be offered as part of the Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phone’s wide range of available Nokia Original Accessories. The colors include Raincloud Blue, Dusty Brown, Sage Green, Peonies Purple, Poppy Red and Harvest Gold. The Nokia model 3285 and Nokia model 3280 phones can be customized even more with custom ring tunes and on-screen graphics that can be downloaded from the web.

The integrated minibrowser gives users the ability to access the continuously expanding number of wireless Internet sites dedicated to everything from business productivity to local entertainment. The Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phone’s twin softkey design makes internet browsing quick and simple, yet provides an easy-to-use Nokia user interface that will be familiar to owners of previous Nokia phone models. This continuity of interface design results in a short learning curve for Nokia customers upgrading to a new Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phone.

With two-way mobile messaging and support for sending and receiving Internet e-mail, the Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phones provide a variety of methods with which to keep in touch with colleagues, friends and family. To speed the entry of messages, the Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phones feature predictive text input, reducing the number of keystrokes needed to compose a message, and to enable text communications with PC’s and other connected devices, the Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phones’ integrated address book holds up to 200 e-mail addresses.

"The unique style and customization options of the Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phones bring a new sense of style and fun to the CDMA market," said Pekka Vartiainen, senior vice president of sales for Nokia. "Additionally, the highly regarded Nokia interface and wireless internet browser deliver a new level of functionality to the new and experienced user alike."

As the first CDMA handset series to be offered in the Americas with a standard lithium polymer battery, the Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phones weigh only 4.9 ounces, yet deliver up to 3 and a half hours of talk time and up to 5 and a half days of standby time in digital mode. The latest innovation in rechargeable battery technology, lithium polymer allows batteries to be extremely light and thin, while still providing exceptional operating times. The Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phone’s standard 1100mAh lithium polymer battery is a mere 1.4 ounces and measures only .3 inches thick.

Features of the Nokia 3200 Series CDMA phones include:

* Integrated wireless Internet minibrowser
* 2-way mobile text messaging with predictive text input
* E-mail support with memory locations for 200 E-mail addresses
* Downloadable ring tunes and graphics
* Profiles for easy, discrete call notification in any environment
* Alarm clock and calendar
* User-changeable Xpress-on color covers
* Standard 1100mAh lithium polymer battery <<

... and for the TDMA crowd:

>> Connected, Conversational and Colorful New Nokia 3300 Series TDMA Phones Debut in Las Vegas

Nokia’s newest TDMA wireless phones feature wireless Internet, mobile chat and
infrared connectivity to synchronize the busiest social lives

With Las Vegas, the city of entertainment, acting as an appropriate backdrop, Nokia today introduced the new Nokia model 3360 tri-mode phone (TDMA 800/1900/AMPS) and Nokia model 3320 dual-mode phone (TDMA 800/AMPS), Internet-enabled wireless phones* designed to complement the active and social lifestyle of today’s newest wireless users. With help from comedian and actor David Spade and alternative rock band Vertical Horizon, Nokia unveiled its newest mobile phones at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel and Casino during CTIA Global Wireless 2001.

As the first entry-level Nokia phones to feature a Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) browser to access the Internet, the Nokia 3300 Series TDMA phones are able to provide not only news and stock information, but also access to entertaining and socially-enabling mobile Internet sites that feature such content as online games, movie listings and music news. Using the latest version of the Nokia WAP browser, the Nokia 3300 Series TDMA phones can support numerous wireless Internet features.

A first in the Americas market, the Nokia 3300 Series TDMA phones include a ‘chat’ feature that allows for dynamic, two-way text conversations. Unlike conventional mobile messaging, which is much like e-mail, using in and out boxes to store individual messages, the Nokia 3300 Series TDMA phones chat feature formats messages as a continuous conversation. The chat function displays a scrollable chat history screen on the phone, and each message is tagged with a predetermined chat nickname that users enter to identify themselves.

To satisfy the need for personalization that defines the newest generation of wireless customers, the Nokia 3300 Series phones include the widest range of customization options that Nokia has ever included in a TDMA digital handset. These features include user-changeable front and back Xpress-on? color covers, support for downloadable ringing tunes with space for 10 custom rings, and three games, including Snake 2 and Space Impact 2, each with vibra-shock for tactile game response. The Space Impact game even has the ability to remain endlessly challenging by downloading new game levels using the Nokia 3300 Series TDMA phone’s mobile Internet browser. Available as a free download from www.nokiausa.com, a suite of PC-based software for use with the Nokia 3300 Series TDMA phones allows customers to compose their own ring tunes and design unique graphical picture messages that set their text messages, and their phones apart from the rest.

"By focusing on the social, playful nature of communicating, we have created products with the Nokia model 3360 and model 3320 that will be much more than just voice communication tools to owners." said Pekka Vartiainen, Senior Vice President of Sales for Nokia Americas. "Each of these phones will become both a reflection of the user’s personality and a trusted advisor, providing entertainment and information that is of particular importance to the owner. We’ve taken what we have learned as the world’s leading manufacturer of mobile phones, and directed it all at creating a truly unique, fun product."

A busy social life is one reason that many customers purchase their first wireless phone. Addressing this need to keep in touch with friends and organize a packed social schedule, the Nokia 3300 Series TDMA phones include a variety of messaging and life management functions. With two-way mobile text messaging quickly becoming the most popular way to stay connected, the Nokia 3300 Series TDMA phones feature predictive text input to make message input quick and accurate, picture messaging support to add flair and a personal touch to each note, and user defined templates, which allow users to pre-load such text as "be there in 15 minutes" or even ‘smileys’ which let the writer’s true emotions show through. A built-in scheduler also reminds the user not to miss important events. These reminder entries can even be shared between two Nokia infrared enabled handsets using the phone’s infrared port. For example, a person having a party could ‘beam’ the time and day into a friend’s Nokia model 3360, and for good measure, do the same with his phone number, just in case the friend gets lost on the way and needs to call for directions. The infrared port can even be used to let two people play a head-to-head game of Snake 2.

Features of the Nokia 3300 Series TDMA phones include:

* Mobile Internet browser
* Predictive text input for fast and easy mobile messaging
* Exceptional performance times - up to 12 days standby and 3 hours 30 minutes of talk time with the standard battery, up to 17 days of standby with the optional extended battery
* Internal antenna for smooth, clean lines
* Internal vibrating alert for discrete calls and improved game play
* Scheduler with reminder notes for easy time management
* Infrared data port for data connectivity
* Free download of PC Suite 4.1 for ring tune composition, picture message design and phone information synchronization and backup
* Full line of Nokia Original Accessories to fit any lifestyle <<
