I hope you wont need a portable gas fired emergency generator to charge your electric car up.

If America had continued working on freeing itself from fossil fuel reliance after the Seventies energy crisis abated, we would by now have replaced our gas stations with battery swap shops, and you could drive your electric car into any battery swap and your battery would be exchanged with a charged replacement in a few seconds, and you would drive on your way. We talked about this sort of thing in earnest thirty years ago, and there is no excuse for the dogged pace of alternative energy research in this country, except for the awesome power of our automotive and petroleum industries, who can put its people in power in presidencies, vice presidencies, CIA directorships, governorships, or wherever else they see fit.
