Once in a while, you find a major exception to the rule if you look really hard.

Yup, Dave Rickey of AMCC was one for a time. He'd set up the option program there so that the executive team was rewarded when the stock price rose. This was true in '98-'99, when I was making a healthy profit holding shares in the company. After I disposed of them (my best effort in the bubble, a 1,000% gain in 14 months), he was persuaded to take a different course, (at least according to the talking head on Bloomberg TV who follows executive compensation) and while Mr. Rickey has been personally enriched during the past year, those who've held the stock since the top have experienced an 80% haircut.
