I'm not opposed to having a little fun here in our discussions re: CNBC. But any objective person can clearly see that the posts concerning the video fantasies of certain individuals has gone a little too far.
As far as being PC, I am so far from that it's not even funny. But even a conservative such as myself can see where the posts in question are offensive to all, not just the female participants on this thread. Your concept of fun must be a little different than mine, as I don't think my enjoyment of, say, Terry Keenan's looks should be presented here in a way that a) is a detriment to substantive discussions surrounding business media, and b) that every female participant in this thread chooses not to post so as to not become a potential target to the Frat Boys' lewd comments.
The suggestions that I lighten up or have fun really off base, as I am a pretty irreverent guy who can be pretty silly ala Joe Kernan and David Faber, but as you will never see them standing over Maria, trying to look down her blouse, nor will you ever see me comment that she looked kind of cold today when wearing that tight red top.
Does any of this drive home the point? While I am not the person who draws the line between good taste and bad, we both know things have gone a little further than they should have here. Now that the Maria B. thread is up, one would think that the Boys can go have their "fun" there.
I realize that I've made myself the uptight poster boy in your eyes, and I can accept that (whether that's truly accurate doesn't really seem to matter to the legions to Maria, but that's ok). But somebody needs to make some kind of effort to try to protect the integrity of this thread against AOL chat room-style discussions here.
I am flat just amazed the amount of posts in the new Maria thread, w/ all kinds of guys (not one apparent female yet) posting their cyber-dedications, many of the individuals not ever having posted on this thread. That really lead one to believe many of those individuals are really devoid of deeper thought than that of Beavis and Butthead.
Cheers. |
