Recent studies, including the one presented today by Dr. Ohman and Dr. Christenson, have compared troponin T with Troponin I, and although specific findings vary, the consensus is that troponin T offers distinct advantages over troponin I. Some of the advantages that have been documented in various studies and publications include the extreme sensitivity of troponin T and its specificity to cardiac injury, the ability to provide rapid risk stratification, which can ultimately lead to more immediate care and better patient outcomes, and the fact that troponin T has been well studied in scientific literature. -snip-
