I believe your post correctly applies to non-hightech products, but not exactly to high-tech products.
So, I think we are both correct. Also, even though you deny this, I think end-life products and excess inventory find their home there too, of either category, because of what I saw when I was shopping there that one time. It fits the bill for large discount at high volumes.
However, I completely agree with you that a) tailored-made products are created for the warehouses and b) they carry good, quality products as a rule. However, this just doesn't exclude those random cases of c) excess inventory (of brandname products).

I have the impression this only applies for consumer products not in the high-tech category, which isn't to say that high-tech won't evolve to include tailored-made goods for Costco. In fact, I would most definitely expect this eventually too (if it hasn't already).
