More news from Kodak-Look out Presstek: kodak.com Broad Spectral Sensitivity, No Preheat Featured In New Thermal CTP Printing Plate
DšSSELDORF, Germany,, June 4, (IMPRINTA)--Kodak Professional, a division of Eastman Kodak Company, announced here today a new digital, presensitized aluminum printing plate with broad spectral sensitivity and no pre-heat processing equipment.
With these capabilities, the Kodak Professional Direct Image thermal printing plate / IRx sets a new standard for CTP plate technology. Building on the success of the award-winning Direct Image thermal printing plate / 830, Kodak introduces a digital thermal plate that can be imaged using a broad range of infrared laser wavelengths --700 to 1200 nanometers. This increases, substantially, the number of platesetters printers can choose from to digitally image printing plates using Kodak Direct Image thermal printing technology.
The new IRx plate supports aqueous processing. A pre-heat processing step is not required. The plate provides high resolution: 1% - 99% at 175 lpi and run lengths of up to 1,000,000 impressions when post baked. The plate may be handled in daylight conditions; safelights are not required.
The Direct Image thermal plate / IRx is announced as an addition to Kodak's revolutionary Direct Image thermal plate / 830 --in daily use with Creo thermal platesetters at over 100 sites in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. The IRx plate and the 830 plate will exist as complimentary products in Kodak's Direct Image thermal product portfolio--bringing the benefits of Kodak Direct Image thermal printing technology to users of new thermal platesetters from a variety of manufacturers.
Live demonstrations at the Kodak IMPRINTA booth will feature the new Direct Image thermal plate / IRx being imaged on a Creo Trendsetter 3244, a Gerber Crescent 3030 and a Linotype-Hell Herkules plate. CREO, Gerber, and Linotype-Hell will also feature live demonstrations of the plate on their respective stands. Other platesetter manufacturers that will announce support for the new IRx plate at IMPRINTA include Purup-Eskofot, Krause, and Dainippon Screen.
The Direct Image thermal plate / IRx will also be demonstrated at Print97, September 3-10 in Chicago.
