Oil Refining and Natural Gas Usage Rory: This is probably a dumb question, but you need NG to refine oil to gas? Just remember, "There Are No Stupid Questions... But There Are A LOT Of Inquisitive Idiots." LOL! Just kidding, of course. <gg> Actually, that's a great question. Refineries also use NG to fire the furnaces used during various refining processes (e.g., fractionation, cracking, and regeneration). They also produce natural gas as a by-product of their light ends separation process. Net-net, though, I think they use more than they generate. Razor
