Boeing to Leave Seattle After 85 Years

By KRISTIN ROBERTS, Reuters

NEW YORK--Boeing Co. plans to move its headquarters out of Seattle to a more central location nearer its customers and financing, in a major blow to the city that has been home to the aircraft manufacturing giant for 85 years.
In a surprise announcement on Wednesday, Boeing said it is eyeing Chicago, Denver and the Dallas/Fort Worth area, saying it would make a final decision by early summer and have an operational center in the new headquarters by fall.
