To me it just proves that there's still way too much optimism in the semi's. Maybe if we had some actual #'s and we sold off and recovered you could say it's a positive that we ignored bad news.

Today we rallied on lack of visibility? No bottom in sight yet? Ohhh please let me buy, what a bargin.

Today AMAT's CEO said there is still no bottom in sight and the decline will be more severe and it'll take longer than normal to bottom. Did I miss read the comments?

I think today's strength in the semi's was nothing more than a little short covering ahead of the btb and some rotation from Dow stocks into techs and semi's in particular. Even with this rotation techs still managed to make new 52 week lows.

Now if the semi's manage to rally on a really bad btb I'll be more convinced about a short term rally (or at least I'll close my short).

But ultimately I don't see how AMAT can avoid hitting at least 35 again and most likely 25 or lower this fall.
