I was watching a TV interview with Gov Gary Locke...his impression was that BA wanted to be more visible in highly regarded financial centers, mostly corporately: Financials, HR, Mktg. Agree that means corporate offices, but I was trying to stress that manufacturing would remain (even thou there are rumors that the Renton plant may be closing and moving operations to Everett).

I don't think the financial markets grant more prestige for being in a Chicago. And I know that they weren't planning to move manu. facilities. However, when a corp. office leaves, it makes it easier for the company to close manu. facilities, shake up mgmt, etc. I think they had become uncomfortable dealing with the unions in such close proximity. Unfortunately, I expect eventually there will be downsizing of the manu. facilities if the corp. move goes thru as announced.

Used to be when Boeing sneezed, WA caught cold. I think the economy is more stable now, but a lot of people still identify Seattle as a Boeing town, not MSFT (re: Sonics!)

I agree...the economic effects will be minor. But Seattle without Boeing is like NYC without the Statue of Liberty. I don't know, it feels weird.

Guess Seattle Softies wouldn't be too far off these days <gg>

The Sonics who?

They just won three games in a row and I was worried that the moon would turn blue or we would have another earthquake. <g>
