Ah, unless you're Muslim. Or traditional Mormon. Or indeed a Catholic nun.

I'm not bothered by semantics, but like to preserve words, so here I actually may agree that 'permanent partnerships' of whatever form other than man-woman might not be termed marriage... although I also think that if serious they should have equal recognition in law.

As for insulting, well, I'm sorry, but I find it abhorrent that supposedly civilised people can speak about homosexuality as some unnatural AND voluntarily contracted disease - homosexuality deserves a degree of scorn similar to that attached to drug abuse. Would you waste overmuch politeness on people who say that Christians can be 'cured' of their 'defect', if you see my point...?

Their discussion may be relevant. The tenor of their language is not, IMO. And I can't see how to debate rationally against those who view homosexuality as an unnatural affliction - they have already moved their viewpoint from logic to personal feeling or belief, and as such are immune to rationality.
