Compaq Introduces Powerful 1.33 GHz Internet PC for Extreme Gaming, Video Editing and Multimedia Featuring the AMD(R) 1.33 GHz Athlon(TM) Processor
HOUSTON, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ - news) is making the world's best selling home PC faster and more powerful for such applications as extreme gaming, video editing and multimedia.

Compaq today introduced its Presario 7000Z Series Desktop PC that features AMD's newest processor, the 1.33 GHz Athlon(TM) with 3D Now! technology and Double Data Rate (DDR) memory. In addition, Compaq said its MyMovieSTUDIO solution -- featuring recordable DVD-R technology -- is now an available option on the Presario 7000Z Series.

Beginning today, consumers can order the Presario 7000Z desktop, Compaq's fastest selling configure-to-order platform, through Compaq's ``Built For You'' kiosks at participating retailers, by calling 1-800-888-0220 and on the Compaq Web site at athome.compaq.com. The ``Built For You'' program allows consumers to customize their Compaq PCs to meet their own specifications at a competitive price.

The Presario 7000Z Series PCs with AMD Athlon 1.3GHz processor will be available at a starting price of $1,459, which includes a 20GB hard drive, 128MB DDR SDRAM memory, 17`` CV735 monitor, 48X CDROM, 56K modem, Creative Labs 1373 PCI audio card and JBL Pro Premium speakers.
