I didn't calculate anything. I got the << 25% in the 1800s, 18% after 1913, 8% in 1991 >> from James Grant and the 1.2% from the Richard Daughty (in Barron's). I am guessing that last number is not comparable to the others, that it is calculated in a different way, but it's good for shock value. ;-)
