Ted, to be honest, it was an attempt to save an endangered institution in this country, stand up comedy. It was in the doldrums and the election of Gore would have just killed it off. Nader would have been no better, there just isn't any material there. But with Smirk, tons and tons of material. Enough to boost comedy into a new golden age. Why, there hasn't been this kind of opportunity since Ford!
