Jack,
The most frightening perspective now I can conjure is that AG is NOW dealing with a problem that he created! Popping the bubble last year was superfluous... it was popping. His draconian moves during 2000 NOW have created a much harder landing than would have happened IF he had simply keep talking to the world and opened up his database to show what he was concerned about. Basically he is denying that he is NOW a part of the market, which is absolutely untenable. As a "participant" in the market we need to see the data that he collects (hoards secretly) and for him to continuously share his "wisdom". In this way he will be acting as openly as those who are buying and selling and THIS will minimize aberrant and spurious responses as in the overall disappointment yesterday when he didn't do enough!

Now he is attempting to bail out of a problem (the excessive decline) and he's not working synergistically with the marketplace. At this point I think he's stalling because of his own fear, based on a recognition of how overboard he went last year.
