The "managed" horses are definitely still wild and have equal beauty to the unmanaged ones. I'm not even sure that the ones you mentioned are not the same ones I read about. I think they are different populations because I don't remember them being on Indian land. I think in most cases they need to be managed somewhat or they will over populate. I also believe they capture and sell to manage now as opposed to killing them, which they used to do. Can't remember why this group was different except for the rareness of a situation that was once common.
