James, Thanks for the help with the DSL modem question. From your European vantage point, what do you surmise/know about Intel's Web PC ??

If (Big If) it is based on Intel's web tablet,

Intel to Make 250,000 Web PCs for AOL Deal in Spain

''It's Intel,'' said AOL International president Michael Lynton when asked in an interview who the manufacturer is.

He added the U.S. chip maker, which is venturing into Internet access devices, will manufacture a first batch of 250,000 terminals.

AOL and Banco Santander announced they would join forces in an online partnership last October, but then declined to disclose the manufacturer of the Internet terminals.

It then said it would offer 500,000 Web devices rather than the 250,000 mentioned now.

The deal to offer Web terminals to Banco Santander's 10 million customers was part of a larger partnership between AOL and the bank. Both companies also agreed to take over a Spanish leisure portal, rebrand it AOL Avant and offer AOL-branded services to Banco Santander's banking clients.

Lynton described the Intel device as "a kind of an iMac,'" referring to U.S. Apple's computer which combines a computer and a monitor in a single, colored box.

Intel's Web device is a dressed-down PC, but Lynton gave no details on its features or the price. The first computers will be offered to Spanish consumers later this year.
