Hi pompsander; You've had the same job for 15 years? You must have the world's dullest career. Over the last 15 years, most of the engineers I know have worked for about 5 different companies. Heck, it's hard to find a .com that's even 5 years old, where do you think they hired all their engineers from?

In Germany, my guess is that people stay with a company for a longer time, but even there they don't stay at the same job. And we all know that it's very hard to find records on computers from 10 years ago.

P.S. I worked at one company, and about 3 months after I left, they got in contact with me because they had lost the last copy of some stuff I'd designed there. They thought that there was some chance I'd taken a copy with me. So I have no doubt that companies lose old documents with great regularity.
