At the time, I all I could think about was my young family. <<Put it up on blocks or something until the gas crunch was over>> We just couldn't pay for 12 mpg premium gas and replacement dual mufflers which kept rusting out all the time because one of them never kicked in at family speeds. You bet I could pass anyone on the highway, and it didn't matter how fast they were going. I never passed anybody going faster than 125, but then I never saw anybody going that fast except me. I nearly wiped myself out once just after I got the thing when I graduated from college. If you've ever been to South Dakota, you've probably seen their highways. Straight as an arrow for 100 miles, then a 90 degree corner. Big semi coming the other way. I squeeked by in a four wheel drift and missed him by literally inches. No damage until I relaxed my foot on the brake, rolled through a barbed wire fence and scratched up the pretty red hood. That was a car. Like a jet, my boss said. I learned my lesson after that.
