Wilder, Good question.
Current angina meds are not clean.
Looking at side effects for antiangina meds and ran: Nitrates: 42% headaches, 9% dizziness Diltiazem: 10% headache, 20% edema, 4% dizziness, 6% fatigue, 3% nausea. Atenolol: 13% dizziness, 32% fatigue, 12% depression, 12% cold extremities, 3% nausea. Ranolazine (High dose being tested 1000mg): 5% dizziness, 2% asthenia, 2% nausea.
I took the numbers from a brokerage report, so you may want to verify :-)
The key advantage cv is counting on is reduced side effects and no effect on heart rate or blood pressure. All the current meds work by reducing the heart work load via reducing heart rate, blood pressure or pumping force. |
