-AMD-760-Based 21264B Motherboard (HARDWARE)

Thanks to Temp for letting me know about this motherboard, the UP1500 from Samsung/APIN, which is based on the AMD-760 chipset and supports the new Alpha 21264B processors and DDR SDRAM. The board is configured as follows:

1 Alpha 21264B CPU
4 MB or 8 MB DDR SRAM L2
AMD-761 Northbridge
266 MHz FSB
64-bit DDR SDRAM Memory Interface
Expansion
1 AGP 4x slot
3 32-bit/33 MHz PCI slots
4 184-pin DDR SDRAM sockets
2 USB ports
2 ATA-100 IDE channels
10/100Mbit Ethernet
The motherboard is essentially an upgrade to Samsung/APIN's older UP1100, which was based on the AMD-750 chipset and used standard PC100 SDRAM. While the PC2100 DDR SDRAM memory subsystem supported by this new UP1500 motherboard still offers less bandwidth than more traditional Alpha solutions like the UP2000 (83 MHz SDRAM, 4-way interleaved), it should offer quite a boost to APIN's low-end Alpha workstations, especially when coupled with the new 21264B CPUs.

The UP1500 is currently listed as "Under Development" and no clear release date is listed. However, it's appearance on Samsung's website would seem to indicate an introduction is drawing near. You can find a list of Samsung/APIN's other Alpha motherboards here

AMD-760MP at CeBit, Palomino in Q3 (AMD)

Thanks to KeithDust2000 for pointing out this article (German) reporting on the appearance of a dual-processor AMD-760MP system from VA Linux using Palomino CPUs. The VA Linux system is a 1U rack-mount unit using Tyan's dual-processor Thunder K7. As you can see from the picture below, there is a rather significant difference in the shape and size of the Palomino processor core:

Comments? I like how Alpha and AMD keep getting tighter and tighter.
