"Not sure we are out of the woods here. The shorts are in this up to their eyeballs. They will probably try to destroy any momentum before it runs away from them. If they get squeezed they lose big."

You can't keep shorting if there aren't any more shares left to short. As a test, I called CSFB to see if I could short, and they came back and said there were no shares available.
