No to statehood

(Published March 23, 2001)
Do you want Puerto Rico to be our 51st state? The last time it was defeated
by one single vote in Congress. We now have a different Congress and it
could pass if you don't call or write your Congress representative.

The Puerto Rican lobby even struck a secret deal with the Clinton
administration to get $25 million to lobby Congress. The Washington insider
liberals are demanding Puerto Rico's statehood because it will send six
liberal congressmen and two liberal senators to Washington.

If you think we have too many people on welfare, Puerto Rico has more than
10 times as many. These people have nothing to offer and they don't care
about us. All they are interested in is U.S. tax dollars.

I have been in Puerto Rico. I have seen many
lazy young men slumming around, sitting on fences in the middle of the day, not wanting to work.
