Have you read the 2nd amendment? In case not, here it is: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". Clearly, the intent of this is to protect the citizens right to raise and keep a Militia. Militias at the time were necessary to stop the threat of foreign invasion. If you think this extends to the rights of children and criminals to bear arms, you have a mighty broad intrepretation. I am certainly not against a "well regulated Militia". If you want to join our fine National Guard, by all means do so, and be assured that I support your ability to bear arms in that service. What I do NOT support is the insane policy of allowing nearly free access to handguns whose only intent is to kill other human beings. The 2nd amendment a gun law? Wow. Maybe we should have a discussion on the sad state of education in our country.
