It's hard to tell, but it looks like they lost at the Japanese equivalent of the trial level, but won on appeal - i.e., the lower court judge was reversed. Thus, they are asking for the lower court to hear the case again. So I think this puts them back to square one. But I'm no expert on Japanese law, especially Japanese patent law.
