I'm not the only one to think today was bogus:
Well the markets managed to close solidly positive on a Friday. While the trading was volatile, buyers managed to fend off a significant mid-day sell wave to close the day with solid gains. The question remains as to whether today's activity was driven by short covering or genuine buy interest with a fundamental bent. Volume on the day was strong, yet it didn't spike in the manner that typifies market bottoms. Briefing.com contends the recent market activity is consistent with a shorter-term trading rally rather than a longer-term reversal of the trend.
