If global demand can be stimulated, which lowered global interest rates may achieve, then America can produce itself out of its debt hole, improving its trade surplus in the process. Technology and knowledge based transfers are the main exports that will lead the way, imo

Stimulating global demand doesn't sound that easy to do with simultaneous slowdowns happening in Europe, Asia and NA.
The best hope I think is Japan. Despite the issues, the population at least has a savings rate. As for technology being the main export, I would agree. Hell do the States produce anything else anymore? Oh yeah...they make cars that don't sell and Steven Seagal movies.
