Did you see the solution that Bill Wattenburg came up with regards the energy crisis ? Amazing guy. His idea centers around putting in a switch to the power that would shut off the 22o volt power but not the 120 volt. This would shut down the air-conditioning, dish washers and other high power energy use but leave the lights and computers on. He has done experiments to show how it would work. Rather than have the blackouts this would simply shut down the above units but leave the essentials running. Here is a link to his energy saving tips. kgoam810.com
