1. So, if I understand your post, the max. thruput for cdma2000* 3G1XRTT (sans 1XEV-DO) is 8x14.4=115.2 kbps?

Why then do we read so often that 1xrtt has a maximum throughput of 144 kpbs? (See, e.g., "This upgrade will potentially double the existing network's voice capacity and increase data-transmission speeds by nearly ten times."
Message 15525636 or "With 1XRTT, the Las Vegas and San Diego networks will be capable of moving data at rates up to 144 kilobits per second (kbps), 10 times faster than generally available today." Message 15528849

2. And voice eats into that max. thruput until the carrier deploys 1XEV-DO?
