Joe, Re: BTW, 200 ms seems like a long time. Are you sure about it? What happens in the middle of switching if a DVD is playing? Does it just hold the last frame?

Yes, they said definitely <200ms (I remembered Fyo's concerns and so that was my first question to the mobile team). They also said that the reaction time was better than with the old Power Now implementation. Maybe this is some kind of worst-case-scenario when both clock-speed and voltage make big jumps. The presentation was seemingless, although I don't know how many fps the MPEG movie or the Flash presentation had. The clock-speed changed every other second (apparently in 1 MHz steps), but I don't know about the voltage. AMD didn't want to disclose that information yet.

BTW, AMD confirmed that KT133A has Power Now support. The demo system was a ALi Board, however.

I think the availability of DDR motherboards has improved significantly over last 2 weeks. Now all we need is MSI K7 DDR board, and prices to drop from average of around $200 to $150 on average.

Although there were lots of KT266 boards shown at CeBIT (and you could see VIA's DDR logo and bags on almost every booth), I was surprised to see also some new AMD760 boards. E.g. Abit showed a new motherboard. And Gigabyte plans a new version of their GA7DX with RAID capability and multiplier adjustments. There were probably more but I forgot about them. I hope AMD maintains their position in the DDR chipset market with AMD760. IMO it's the best solution currently, although it's a little bit expensive.

Andreas
