Ron, I read the article carefully and Mr. Wattenburg did not say to shut off the 22o volt power but not the 120 volt. He spoke of appliances that one would usually associate with 220 and that do consume lots of power. The article also points out that the current problems that the stupid californian's find themselves in is of their own making. I read the article overall as an OK guide on doing things that will conserve energy. The problem is that the stupid californian's have created such a bad situation I would use my fair share when it's on as no amount of conservation can make up for the supply shortage vs demand that the stupid californians have created for themselves. If I had natural gas in my house in california I'd get a generator and wire it into the house with the correct switching and configure the engine to use natural gas. Then I'd design a heat recovery unit to use the exhaust for heating hot water and I'd look into how to use the heat to create/operate an absorption air conditioner. The you take a linux pc and wireless control modules to control it all. hmmmm...... can I use check detector to control .... hmmmm..... watman.com And if you look carefully you will see my digital signature created by moi in 1989. 73 vectors. Maybe I should move to fruit and nut land so I can live in a place where I have an excuse that I can give my wife to buy all the stuff I need to do that and then play at saving energy.
