Little Joe, well said. But I would go even further and say. It's not just the far right and or far left which use politics to advance their agenda. It's everyone in between as well.

One of the myths perpetuated by the mainstream press is there is a "center" group of voters who are wonderfully open minded, and do not desire to "impose" their will via the vote on others. In the past election, John McCain was supposed to represent these people. But let's look at who now is the most vocal and determined person in the senate to impose his view on others regarding campaign finance reform.

Currently, we have a real economic situation facing the country, and McCain (with a very minority opinion based on the election results) is, for the most part, freezing any progress on tax reduction until "he gets" what he wants regarding campaign finance laws.

But, that's what politics is all about. Advancing ones beliefs in the public domain, for the (perceived) or (real) betterment of everyone.
