Maybe you should load a simple utility that just monitors the memory and cpu usage without loading all the Norton programs, to further narrow down the memory usage problem.

There are probably many freebies available that do this. One that I use also replaces the system clock with a more complete display is called TClock. hotfiles.zdnet.com

Just a thought. I'm really out of my league helping you on this.
