Martin,

If not, your question, which cannot easily be addressed properly without greater clarification of the various terms being used, is fully, clearly, and definitively answered at the above URL . . . .

Huh? The white paper from Qualcomm you are so fond of focussed on economics of network operation. It doesn't help me figure out what JGoren was saying in his post at 8998 that the max thruput was 8 x 14.4 = 115.2 kbps. (If you read it carefully, you will see that the White Paper does not even mention 8x14.4. Why, it also does not even mention JGoren's post 8998.)

It also doesn't help me understand WTF Verizon is talking about when it says that "With 1XRTT, . . . networks will be capable of moving data at rates up to 144 kilobits per second (kbps), 10 times faster than generally available today." Message 15528849

"capable of moving data?" Is that "peak rate," "thruput," "max. throughput" (JGoren's post 8998), or what QCOM's white paper that you are so fond of calls "Mature Average Network Throughput?"

My second question in response to JGoren's post 8998 was

"2. And voice eats into that max. thruput until the carrier deploys 1XEV-DO?"

where is this question addressed in the White Paper on network cost of operation?
