I have a son who would qualify as ADD, but I'm not about to let them drug him. I don't want to see his spirit drugged so that the teachers can have an easier time 'herding' the kids.

However, a neighbor has her child on it, and believes it has improved his ability to learn. It is her choice.

I agree that the schools need to be improved; I disagree that vouchers will help. I can't see how it would be economically feasible for a private school to operate in the poorer sections of the country on what is being proposed for voucher amounts. I believe vouchers would simply be a break for the wealthy (although I've heard of some plans that offer vouchers only for those who qualify economically).

Some schools do very well. Our local elementary school always scores in the upper 5% in the state STAR tests. It seems to me that parent participation is key to how well the school does; if the parents are not involved and/or do not care how their children do in school, the child is almost doomed to failure. How do we change our society so that ALL parents realize their responsibility in their childrens education?

I can't agree that the public schools are indoctrinating kids to be Democrats. I believe that kids form their first political views by observing their parents, at least until they the become old enough to rebel.
