I can tell you did not earn your spurs solely from a textbook partner! Nor did you solely earn them on surface! Good information, but I interpret the post by rdww to be that what is obviously a detached fragment of rock is now thought to have been detached from bedrock by the dozer in the logging road - building program. I believe Bandore will try to prove this theory by finding the outcrop (or large boulder) the fragment is believed to have been broken from. It should be close by (within dozer pushing distance and within the road cut width). I would hope that they would then use the "sound" principles described in your post to determine if the host from which the fragment was broken off of is large boulder or bedrock.

If their theory is correct, then they should be able to strip off the bedrock source of the fragment and determine surface dimensions and not have to follow the boulder train back up -ice. This could be real significant IMO.
