Jerome,

Selling PUTs isn't a sound strategy during the heart of a bear market. Writing calls works just fine until the market turns. IMO, one needs to be flexible; and willing to adapt one's tactics somewhat. e.g. I've written more calls than PUTs this year - a first for me. Perhaps, I'm the last bull that has finally capitulated. ;^)

Sam,

RE ASPs: I think Infrastructure has had charts of that nature on their website or charts that would allow you to calculate the ASPs. e.g. I'm pretty sure they've posted charts showing total bit count, total chip count and total $/ value by year, perhaps by Q for a period of several years.

[Went tot the site: Presentation at: infras.com has some info. Older presentation at: infras.com has this slide, but without the years.... infras.com }

Note that it contains a reference to VLSI Research as the source of the info.

Note that I'm starting to subscribe to the thread philosophy. FA will help determine which sectors and which companies within a sector to invest in; however TA is probably the best tool for entry and exit points unless one just chooses to buy, hold and have a life away from a PC. [note that I'm here typing.]

Ian.
