you seem to be comparing 1x vs. cdma2000; they are different. i believe full 3G, that is cdma2000 1xrt max is 2.4 megabits per second, when stationary. my post was responding to a question related to whether the cdma Is-95, 1x rate would decline with more users.

I don't think I am comparing 1x to cdma2000 at all, and I submit you are incorrect when you say those are different.

Qualcomm refers to cdma2000 1x and cdma20001xev. See, e.g., page 15 of the 2000 annual report. Cdma2000 1x--like cdma 2000 1xEV--is part of cdma2000.

I don't undertstand what you are talking about when you say "cdma Is-95 1x"? That could be either cdmaOne is-95b or cdma2000 1xrtt? Agreed that in context you could not possibly have been referring to 1xEV. But I still am struggling with what in the world you might be talking about when you say "cdma is-95 1x"?

So, let's go back to FedWatcher's post at 8958, he was talking about 1xrtt. One of your responses at 8968 (which is in the chain from Jon Koplik's message at 8959 replying to FedWatcher at 8958) says "The way the 1x works is that it links 8 independent voice channels together. So you get a maximum of 8 X 14.4k thruput. " So, FedWatcher was talking about 1xrtt and you were speaking of 1x (hopefully not 1xEV).

You baffle me when you throw in this new technology "cdma Is-95, 1x rate." Equally confused by your statement that "cdma2000 1xrt max is 2.4 megabits per second" as that would seem to be the max speed for CDMA2000 1xEV and not CDMA2000 1xrtt.
