Here is the subheading from the dead-tree version. "If developers don't come up with a solution that would boost usage, wireless carriers will be paying off debt for a long, long time." (As to European carriers, paying off debt assumes there will not be debt forgiveness by the sovereigns or bankruptcy filings by euro carriers.) Here is what the author thinks: "To be sure, expectations have been shaped by the wired Web, which, funded by vast amounts of venture capital, grew lightning fast.
