why not actually point out specifics
Chris, it's difficult for me to do that without violating a personal rule that I have, which is to be tolerant of other people's religious beliefs.
I will say this to you:
If I were out in the ocean on a ship and saw a whale, then came in to port and told you about it, three things could happen.
First, if you had seen a whale yourself, you wouldn't have much trouble with my observation.
Second, if you had never seen a whale, but were willing to learn something, you might pay attention to me.
Third, if you had already decided that whales didn't exist, you might assume that I was lying to you, or that I was insane.
If you tell me that something I have observed empirically is nonsense, or that I have some inherent flaw that will eventually result in my everlasting demise because you refuse to observe that same thing empirically, then all I can tell you is that you have that right as long as you don't start shooting at me.
I wish you well on your journey. Remember that the only man who cannot learn is the man who knows it all already. |
