Or how about LU? They got even more creative. Create a subsidiary, dump half of your debt on it, then figure out a way to take the thing public.

Personally, I think the Agere thing is going to fail miserably. LU debt rating will go subterranean by the end of the month, and might finally be the catalyst that brings along massive (and necessary) consolidation in the telecom biz.

Bankers at MDW have got to be sweating too. If they can't pull this one off, they're all screwed. (Not to mention all the LU paper that MDW and it's related banks will have to write off if this thing fails.)
