Embattled tycoon Richard Li Tzar-kai suffered fresh embarrassment last night when it emerged that his CV had widened to include a degree in electrical engineering.

The news that Singapore's MediaRing.com, of which Mr Li is a director, erroneously listed him in its prospectus as an electrical engineering graduate adds to the media scrutiny of the Pacific Century CyberWorks chief.

On Thursday, Mr Li, 34, was forced to admit he did not graduate from Stanford University, after years of company material describing him as a computer engineering graduate of the Ivy League college.

On Friday, PCCW issued a statement admitting that two companies associated with Mr Li had filed public statements that contained erroneous information.

The statement said: "Mr Li has contacted the companies concerned and asked them to take all necessary and appropriate action."

Information posted by MediaRing on the Web site of the Singapore stock exchange includes a picture of Mr Li and the words: "Mr Li graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University."

It is understood the second company PCCW was referring to on Friday was Rediff.com, a Nasdaq-listed portal of which Mr Li has been a director since April last year. Its prospectus reads: "Mr Li holds a B.S. degree in computer engineering from Stanford University."

A PCCW source yesterday said: "We just want to get on with other things now."
