Joe, I don't have anything against prefetching, as long as you have a large enough cache to support it. Athlon has 384K of cache and the L2 has lots of associativity, so some judicious prefetching can be quite good. Generally I prefer the concept of sophisticated compiler driven prefetching vs. dumb hardware prefetching. Scumbria
