, until the seatbelt utopia (and I do hope it comes soon) is upon us I am happy with the laws that make people buckle up. This little debate of ours may have looked like it's about seatbelts because I have a personal as well as a principled interest in this. I definitely have some anger and frustration directed at Acura, NHTSA, and the system in general over how this affects me personally, but the difference of opinion you and have is strictly principle--the role of the government. Were it not for my personal situation, I would not be as familiar as I am about the shortfall in seatbelt protection so we never would have had this discussion, but my personal situation doesn't change my approach to this issue. I don't support the nanny state. I come at this from the perspective of the rights and responsibilities of individuals and a reliance on the marketplace, not the government, as the primary mechanism for decision making. We could never even agree on what the key factors of the debate are, let alone a bottom line. Different strokes and all that. Karen
