The street may be remembering that news of the Symbios acquisition was one of the things that sent LSI to the bottom during the last cycle, though Symbios turned out to be a good idea. I'm a little surprised the market is being so negative, since it's supposed to be accretive. Maybe it's an excuse to take profits from the last week or so. Also, Cisco's latest fit of pessimism can't be helping. What we need is some analyst to come out with an opinion (hopefully positive, of course) about what the deal means. Otherwise we'll drift down on an acquisitions-are-negative knee-jerk reaction.
